And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.        John 12:32

Meet Our Pastor

Arthur Douglas, Jr.

The story of Pastor Arthur Douglas Jr. begins in a home filled with love, faith, and family. Born to Arthur Douglas Sr. and Chester Lee Douglas, he grew up as the oldest of three children, with his sister Diane and brother Terry close by his side. His walk with Christ started early. On August 18, 1967, as a young boy at Saint Savior Baptist Church, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior under the guiding voice of Rev. G. W. Holmes—a moment that would shape the rest of his life.

Growing Up & Learning to Lead

Arthur’s childhood and teenage years unfolded in the neighborhoods and schools of Caddo Parish. He wasn’t just a student—he was an athlete, running track and playing basketball, learning early lessons about teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.

His hunger to grow, both personally and spiritually, took him beyond Shreveport. He studied at Northwestern State University, continued his development at the Shreveport Bible College Management Training School in Utah, and deepened his biblical education at St. Stephens Educational Bible College in Los Angeles. Each step added new depth and direction to the calling he felt growing inside him.

Answering the Call

On July 20, 1980, Arthur Douglas Jr. stepped fully into that calling. He publicly announced that God had called him to preach the Gospel—a decision he embraced with both humility and conviction. Just ten days later, on July 30, he delivered his first sermon from Acts 3:6, titled “Such as I Have Licensed.”

Two years later, on November 20, 1982, he was ordained at Saint Savior Baptist Church under Pastor Joseph King, marking the official beginning of a ministry that would span decades and touch countless lives.

A Journey Through Ministry

From that moment forward, Pastor Douglas committed himself to pastoring God’s people wherever he was sent. His journey led him to churches across Louisiana and Texas:

  • Original Golden Hill Baptist Church, Hallsville, TX

  • Morning Star Baptist Church, Gloster, LA

  • New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, Houston, TX

  • Saint Peter Baptist Church

In each congregation, he poured out his heart—preaching, teaching, visiting, counseling, and encouraging. Each church became part of his story, shaping him as much as he shaped them.

On April 12, 2015, his ministry brought him home to Shreveport, where he became the pastor of Evergreen Baptist Church. At Evergreen, Pastor Douglas continues to do what he has always done: faithfully proclaim God’s Word, love God’s people, and serve with humility and strength. His work extends far beyond the church walls, as he continues evangelistic outreach across multiple states—meeting people wherever they are and sharing the hope of Christ.

Love, Marriage & Family

Long before he took on the title of pastor, Arthur Douglas took on another lifelong role—husband. On February 21, 1981, he married Sheila Lenise Johnson at Saint Savior Baptist Church. Their marriage has been a partnership built on faith, laughter, prayer, and love. Together, they raised two sons, Arthur Douglas III (Trey) and Rickey Jamaal Douglas, who have brought them pride and joy.

Today, their family has expanded into the next generation. Pastor and Mrs. Douglas are the grateful grandparents of Arthur Douglas IV, Aiden Christopher Thomas, Rickey Jamaal Douglas Jr., Renee Lenise Douglas, and Kynli Amir Douglas—each one a blessing and a reminder of God’s goodness.

A Life of Purpose

Looking back, the path of Pastor Arthur Douglas Jr. has always carried the steady thread of purpose. From the day he accepted Christ to the moment he first stepped behind a pulpit, to every church he has served, his life tells the story of a man committed to God’s calling.

His journey continues—one sermon, one prayer, one soul at a time.
